trash clean up day
Jackson Lake Association is asking for community involvement in helping to keep our lake clean.
Non-members are welcome to participate.
JLA will have bottled water on trash boats. Lunch provided around 1 pm to all participants.
Meet at the Georgia Power Dam (Lloyd Shoals Park) at 8:30 am to review safety and other information related to the cleanup.
We will clean up the shoreline either by boat or by land, depending on the water level and the area to be cleaned. We have three boats and will provide life vests and rubber gloves for all participants.
What you need to bring: Minimum of one adult for every eight minors. Participants should wear closed-toed shoes and bring gloves. It's important to dress for the weather.
Please contact Ken White (lakeside9180@att.net)two weeks before the cleanup date. It's important to let Ken know the number of attendees so he can plan accordingly.
JLA will sponsor two or more clean-up events each year. Georgia Power will support the events by providing a roll-off dumpster for any trash collected in Jackson Lake.
JLA boats may be used by members to gather trash in Jackson Lake. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to properly dispose of the trash collected by taking it to the county landfill or transfer station. If trees, logs or large limbs are taken to the Georgia Power ramp, they must be placed on the shoreline or secured, by rope, to the shoreline or adjacent tree.
